BIGGER WIND, a documentary about the Perrin Ranch Industrial Wind Energy Complex. Take a moment to watch.

"Wind energy is much more expensive per unit of power generated than electricity derived from fossil fuels or nuclear reactors. The free enterprise system has no incentive to embrace wind energy because it is uneconomical. Industrial scale wind energy facilities are constructed only with government mandates and subsidies. Taxpayers and consumers bear the cost of wind energy." - Brian Tupi, Wind is Not the Answer

CCCRRE is not against wind energy, but is for responsible renewable energy in this area. Wind Energy is not the answer to our renewable energy needs here in Northern Arizona. It is a WASTE of TAXPAYER DOLLARS!

"It is imperative that potential displacement, injury and mortality risks to wildlife be avoided and minimized to the extent possible, and, thus far, it appears that the risks specific to the wildlife onsite have been neither studied nor adequately avoided," states the Nov. 18 letter from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife to the wind industry representatives.

WIND ENERGY FACTS

  • MYTH: Next Era is advertising that the Perrin Ranch Wind Complex will create enough power for 29,000 homes. FACT: In truth, NextEra can expect less than 20% of this figure - less than 5,800 homes. When questioned by the Coconino County Commissioners on 12/16/10, NextEra was unable to answer this question. Fact is, the only way the Perrin Ranch Wind Complex will create enough power for 29,000 homes is if the wind is blowing here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. And we all know that wind is unpredictable and does not blow 365 days a year!
  • MYTH: Northern Arizona is a great place for wind. FACT: Arizona is #35 out of the 50 states in this country as one of the worst areas for producing wind energy. The only reason this area is even being considered is because of a mandate from the Arizona Corporation Commission for Arizona Public Service (APS) to purchase wind power from within the State.
  • MYTH: This project will create over 200 local jobs during construction and up to 8-10 permanent jobs. FACT: Very few local jobs will be created during the construction period. NextEra as well as all other wind developers hire from within their industry including construction jobs. Wind development is a specialized industry and requires individuals who are experienced in the construction of these complexes.
  • MYTH: 20% by 2025. FACT: In order for the State of Arizona to meet the demand of producing 20% of our electricity needs by 2025, over 7000 wind turbines would have to be constructed in N. Arizona alone! There is not enough available land here in Northern Arizona to even construct this many industrial wind turbines. And again, they would have to be running 24/7/365!
